If you're missing a tooth (or teeth) you'll be glad to know that dentures are not your only option. Nowadays we can replace teeth using dental implants, probably the greatest advancement in dentistry since anesthesia. With implants you can laugh, bite, and chew just as you would with your natural teeth. That's because they are the next best thing to natural teeth — prosthetic teeth that are attached to permanently imbedded anchors.

There are a number of great reasons to consider implants:

They're secure. No slipping or wobbling. You can eat with confidence, and do everything you used to do with natural teeth. Your implants always stay in place.

They help save your remaining teeth. Unlike bridges, implants don't require the support of your remaining teeth — they are strong and independent, leaving the rest of your teeth untouched. And that's good news for your long-term dental health.

They look great! People with dental implants tend to smile more. That's because of the renewed confidence that comes with having a great looking smile — a natural-feeling, natural-looking smile.

Can anyone get implants?

People of all ages have enjoyed the benefits of implants, but there are some considerations. You need to be in good general health, there must be enough bone to support the implant, and ideally your gums should be free of disease. There's one way to know for sure: contact us for a consultation.

How does the procedure work?

Getting your implants in place is a co-operative effort between your oral surgeon and your dentist. We're the experts in oral surgery, so we take care of surgically implanting the anchors beneath your gums.

Meanwhile, your dentist will craft the replacement teeth that will clip on to the implants.

How long does it take?

The whole procedure, from consultation to new smile, takes about 6 to 8 months. Don't worry, though — during that time you should experience no significant disruption to your normal activities.

How do I take care of my implants?

The same way you take care of natural teeth. Implants require no special maintenance, but it is just as important to keep brushing and flossing. And don't forget your regular check-ups!
